Journey to Inspiring Korea

Friday, November 11, 2011

When Malaysia’s youth still having fever with Korean drama and K-pop, I have been given a chance by Ministry Youth and Sports Malaysia to explore and get to know Korea. This is an opportunity that I can’t decline even with all the study workload and others. I used to have thought that Korean is an entertainment country because of the popularity with drama and music, but after visit Korea all may perspective about Korea change. Korean is not just an entertainment country but it is more than that, lies in Korea are dedicated value, valuable culture and historical value that very inspiring.

King Sejong the Great

King Sejong devoted himself to his people and created language for their people as a gift to their people so that they can speak and write, it take him 10 years in making the Hangul. King Sejong work seriously for the benefit of his people, sleeping for only 3 to 4 hours a day, working 7 days a week. During his drain, he is diagnosing over hundred different condition causes by work and stress. As he continues with Hangul, his constant reading causes erectable damage to his eyes, and he become old but blind. The reason King Sejong goes such extraordinary length to create the alphabet because of his people. He has witness many incidences where the uneducated had to suffer miscarriage of justice as the couldn’t read the law or put their appeal in writing.

/please

“The spoken language of our country is different from that of China and does not suit the Chinese characters. Therefore amongst uneducated people there have been many who, having something that they wish to put into words, have been unable to express their feelings in writing. I ‘am greatly distressed because of this, and so I have made twenty eight new letters. Let everyone practice them at their ease, and adapt them to their daily use”. (King Sejong’s preface to Hunmin Chongnum)

“THE DUTY OF A KING IS TO LOVE HIS PEOPLE, THAT IS ALL”/blush

King Sejong has contributed lot of idea and invention to the Korea but the impressive achievement for me is the invention of Korean alphabet (Hangul). With his invention of Hangul Korean people have their own languages which symbolize their own identities. It is true that language is the heart of a nation. Until now his alphabet is being using by the Korean, sacrifices of one man have safe a nation. King Sejong truly a Korean hero.

POSCO (Pohang Iron and Steel Company)
POSCO, world 3rd largest steel producer and one of the most competitive steel companies has contributed immensely to the rapid socio-economic development of South Korea. It started out 38 years ago with empty fields and rural fishing villages, to create today’s phenomenal steelworks (taken from POSCO). POSCO started with no natural resources, no capital and no technological expertise. In a land devastated by national division and war dreams of developing an integrated steel mill and a prosperous nation become reality when POSCO was established in 1968.

One of the POSCO mottos is Limited Resources, Unlimited Creativity. With just the motto and determination they created miracle to create prosperity in deserted areas, POSCO keep fighting and fighting to survive in the world. POSCO has maintain unfailing spirit of Korea

Today, POSCO is among the best and respectful steel companies in the world. Even rapidly develop company, POSCO still dedicated to have green and clean environment, at coal recreating activity POSCO trying to minimize the pollution by having strict green control.

FROM JUST STEEL FACTORY, POSCO HAS CHANGE TO STEEL CITY /shock

There’re lot more story like on how Korean managed to pay MIF in just short time, on how they make history in architecture by building Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore, story of Samsung, Hyundai and Siheung. But I have no time to type all that, so that all from me ;)

Khutbah 11.11.11

Thursday, November 10, 2011

2D in 1W (2 Dimension in 1 World)

When we were small the world seem beautiful, everything seem simple,
Everyday will be the a new day for us, there always a new thing to be learned,
Everyday seem to be happy day, nothing to be worried about,
All the people are friendly, treat us nice and gently,
Laugh and joy will be element of our day,
Imagination and creativity is our talent,
World is our playground.
/please

Then we grow older the world seem cruel and everything becoming complex,
Everyday seem to be a misery day to us, we’re worried about something all the time,
People don’t seem so nice and friendly anymore,
Lot of responsibilities and hope must be carried out,
We must be successful in everything we do,
Money and position becoming our aim
World is our battle field.

It is the world who’s the one who changing
or actually we the one who’s changing and
then change the world

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I've learned....  That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned....  That when you're in love, it shows.
/blush

I've learned....  That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.

I've learned....  That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned....  That being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned....  That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

I've learned....  That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned....  That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned....  That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned....  That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned....  That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned....  That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I've learned....  That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned....  That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
/hmm

I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned....  That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

I've learned.... That opportunity is never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned....  That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned....  That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned....  That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned....  That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned....  That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

Inch By Inch

We are in hell right now,
we can fight our way
back into the light.
We can climb out of hell.
One inch, at a time.
You know when you get old in life
things get taken from you.
That’s, that’s part of life.
But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff.

You find out that life is just a game of inches.
So is football.
Because in either game
life or football
the margin for error is so small.
I mean
one half step too late or too early
you don’t quite make it.
One half second too slow or too fast
and you don’t quite catch it.

The inches we need are everywhere around us.
They are in every break of the game
every minute, every second.
when we add up all those inches
that’s going to make the fucking difference
between WINNING and LOSING
between LIVING and DYING.
I’ll tell you this
in any fight
it is the guy who is willing to die
who is going to win that inch.
And I know
if I am going to have any life anymore
it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch

because that is what LIVING is.
The six inches in front of your face.

Life Is Like a Cup of Coffee

/dignose

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups! The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
